In the short film Paradise Island, Vancouver-based filmmaker Kat Jayme travels to Boracay, the crown jewel of the Philippines and her family’s favourite vacation spot. But this time she is not on holiday. With the help of the local children of the island, who make sandcastles for money, she discovers what life is really like on Paradise Island. more

This screening will be folllowed by a Filmmaker Q&A and intermission.

Directed by Michelle Dougherty and Daniel Hinerfeld Sonic Sea explores the critical role of sound in the sea, and the sudden, dramatic changes human activity is inflicting on the ocean's delicate acoustic habitat -- changes that threaten the ability of whales and other marine animals to prosper, to function, and ultimately, to survive. more
